Daredevil was not the first disabled superhero or even the first without sight, but in the view of most comics fans, he is unquestionably the best. Granted his debut here by writer Stan Lee, with pencil art by Golden Age Great Bill Everett, Daredevil would hit the comic book A-List in the 1980s under Frank Miller, later entering mainstream pop culture in 2015 thanks to the Netflix series starring Charlie Cox. This #1 also features the first appearances of Karen Page, “Foggy” Nelson, and Daredevil’s dad, Battlin’ Jack Murdock, all of whom are featured in the Netflix shows.
Now that Cox, at least, has been tasked with bringing Daredevil into the Marvel Cinematic Universe via a new Disney+ streaming show, interest in the character, and in this first issue, is certain to remain high among collectors and investors alike.
